Online Guitar Lesson

The reviews at http://www.reviewsnest.com/GuitarLessons look good, but – anybody have any experience with learning at home?

Any type of music lesson is going to be only as effective as you make it. If you have the discipline to learn at home, it will work fine. If you don’t have the discipline, don’t bother.

The advantage of having a guitar instructor is that you have someone there to show you what you are doing wrong right away and how to correct it, while if you are just going by something inanimate, it can’t give you that immediate feedback. It can also be someone to encourage you when are doing well.

Ok, so my brother took guitar lessons and he never learned notes or anything. Just songs. Are you supposed to learn notes?
How hard is learning the guitar as to say, the piano?
To be decent, how long should i practice a day?

Learning notes ain’t all it’s cracked up to be, but for some, it helps. Depends on your style, and not knowing the notes by name at the drop of a hat doesn’t mean you don’t know the notes. And sheet music is hard, guitar tabs are easy. Both serve a purpose, both do it well, tabs just make more sense to me right off the bat. Who needs to know what note when you’ve got a fret number? But eventually you see the patterns attached to that fret number, and it’s just as good as seeing the notes anyway…

Sometimes you learn the songs so you can learn the notes so you can learn more songs. So you can figure out more about notes… and so on.

I’d say at least an hour a day, but at LEAST fifteen minutes. Every day, if it suits you. Don’t look at it as a chore, music is fun. Good luck!

im trying to learn how to play a guitar and i cant find a specific website that can show me how to do it, any suggestions?

Nah, don’t do youtube. Google for "video guitar lesson" (without the quotes) and you’ll find several sites that have what you’re looking for.

I don’t really want to have to pay for my lessons in playing the acoustic, so can anyone help me? Please? Thanks!

Here is a link to a video lesson at Youtube. This guy has a series of 12 lessons. You can find the other lessons in the related videos section. He covers the basics very well. He uses an electric guitar, but the material translates to the acoustic very well.

please help. my dad passed away 3 months ago and about a 2 years ago he bought me a guitar and i’ve never been able to learn how to play it because i’ve just never gotten around to it and now i would like to know where i can find free online lessons???????? HELP PLEASE!!!!!

i got really bored and was watching this other video a few times, i didnt bother with the tabs and i didnt watch it in depth but i decided to make my own song based off of it… kinda lame but hopefully good for a few laughs. Keep in mind i’m not on a spanish or classical guitar, im on quite literally the Squire of acoustic guitars. I’m using electric guitar strings, furthering the suckage of my guitar. Still, enjoy.
